One Shot // Love Me Tender

"David i can't believe you took me here!! It's just our one year anniversary...this place is so expensive!" she said, glancing around at the lush decor of the restaurant. He grinned as he took her hand, "It's fine! Besides, I wanted to take you here..." He looked deep into her eyes, feeling slightly nervous. "What's wrong, sugar? Are you okay?" she said, a concerned look crossing her face. David nodded, "Everything's perfect..."

Dinner passed quickly, and suddenly David called the waiter over. "Did you get my request from the hostess?" he said, glancing quickly across the table. The waiter nodded, "Yes, it's on the way now." After he had walked away, the girl gave David a curious look. "What's going on?" she said quietly. David shrugged, "I don't know what you're talking about baby..." She frowned. "The thing! With the waiter just now?" He glanced back over his shoulder, "Oh, that? I had just requested a bottle of Veuve, that's all...for our anniversary!"

The waiter re-approached the table with the champagne and two glasses. He poured, and as he walked away, David held his glass towards hers. "To us...I love you, and I don't know where I'd be without you." She blushed and smiled, "I love you too! This is too much...you're the best." As they both took a sip of champagne, David's nerves flared up. He slid his hand into the inside pocket of his jacket quickly, and closed his fist over the precious item inside. "Honey, I have something I need to say to you..." He reached for her hand, and stared deeply into her eyes...

"What is it baby?" she said, growing nervous. David took a deep breath, "You're everything and more that I've ever wanted...I can't picture a single moment without you in it." She smiled, and her cheeks flushed. He continued, "I love you so much, and I want to be with you always..." She suddenly realized what was going on, and she stuttered, "Oh...oh my God, David!" Tears rimmed her eyes, and her heart exploded knowing what was coming next...

David left his seat to kneel right next to her, and as he held her left hand in his, he said softly, "Baby, will you marry me?" Her cheeks glistened with tears as she nodded, "Yes...yes of course I will! Oh my God!" David slid the diamond onto her finger, and stood up, pulling her into his arms. "I love you..." he murmured as he gently pressed his lips to hers. She shivered and smiled as she pulled away long enough to say, "I love you too...now show me!" He raised an eyebrow and started to say, "I just di-" when she silenced him by kissing him again...
